The report covers Mayor Wright's activities across August and September 2026:
- Patriot Day Recognition: Marking 25 years since 9/11, honoring victims, first responders, and veterans; town flags flown at half-staff per presidential proclamation.
- Torrey Operations Modernization Project: A draft document organization plan has been created (with Melinda's help). Melinda is also converting a backroom into workspace for the clerk, treasurer, and other staff. A list of procedures documenting all town operations is being compiled.
- Water: Working with Melinda and Dustin to sort out current ERU (Equivalent Residential Unit) usage and commitments. Discussions with Kelly and Dustin about the best location for a new well.
- Cybersecurity: The mayor attended a cybersecurity workshop where water system security was a major topic. All Utah water systems must now create a Water System Cybersecurity Plan (grants available to fund this). Notably, 14 SCADA systems in Utah were recently found exposed on a dark website, prompting the need for Torrey's own SCADA system to undergo a cybersecurity review. - Code Enforcement: Title 12 (Code Enforcement) is ready for review and adoption. Contracts for a code enforcement official and hearing officer have been drafted. Frank Nakamura will serve as both hearing officer and appeals officer for P&Z appeals/variances, as required by state law (10-99a-107).
- Post Office: A needs analysis was submitted to USPS. The town is gathering letters of support from businesses and citizens, and sent a draft support letter to Senator Curtis's staff for his signature/submission.
- IT: Email migration has begun. Old computers were wiped—one repurposed as a monitor, others being sent to ICS in Richfield for recycling.
