Fireworks Restriction within Torrey's Municipal Boundaries

Torrey bans all fireworks due to extreme drought and wildfire risk.
June 29, 2026

Dear Residents of Torrey Town:

On June 25, 2026, Governor Spencer J. Cox issued an executive order regarding temporary fireworks restrictions in the State of Utah due to historic drought, extreme fire danger, and extraordinary wildfire conditions. After careful review of the current hazardous environmental conditions within and surrounding our community, and consulting with the Fire Marshal, Torrey Town will not permit the discharge of any fireworks within Torrey's municipal boundaries.

This restriction applies to all private fireworks, including those otherwise permitted under Utah law, and shall remain in effect until the hazardous fire conditions have subsided and the restriction is lifted by the State and Torrey Town.

We want you to know that the decision to prohibit fireworks was not made lightly. Fireworks are a traditional part of Independence Day and Pioneer Day celebrations, especially this 250-year celebration. However, current drought conditions, dry vegetation, winds, and limited firefighting resources create an immediate and serious risk to public safety. During this restriction, there shall be no discharge of fireworks anywhere within the Town's municipal boundaries. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Aerial fireworks;
  • Ground fireworks;
  • Firecrackers; or
  • Any other fireworks or pyrotechnic device capable of creating sparks.

Please be advised that every officer charged with enforcement of state and municipal laws, including the Fire Marshal and local law enforcement, is authorized to enforce these restrictions. The ramifications of starting a fire would be significant. We are experiencing an unprecedented aggressive and dangerous fire season. The safety of our residents, homes, firefighters, and surrounding lands must be our priority. We ask for your cooperation and understanding as we are taking this temporary but necessary action to protect our community.

Please celebrate responsibly and help us prevent the next wildfire before it starts.
